Resending from SMATDB painfully slow

Since our move to 6.1.2, we have noticed that resending messages from the SMATDB inbound or outbound threads to be painfully slow (10 minutes for 3000 messages). Our beefy AIX box is only running at about 3% utilization and I sincerely doubt we don’t have disk speed issues. In the past, I would expect submitting 3000 messages from a SMAT file take about a minute.

Has anyone else experienced this and hopefully found a solution to make things work a bit faster?

Have you tried resending messages to file from SMAT dB, then resending file on thread?  I could see many possible outcomes, like delay in creating file, delay in resending file or no delay at all.  Each of which may point to the culprit here.
