Check to see if you can define HL/7 2.2 snd 2.5 variants via the HL/7 configurator.
If you can define the variants, then no problem.
If there is one you cannot define, then you can still make it work. You will need to define the variant as a version you do have and then change the definition to as closely as possible match the version required. Then change the version number in the Xlate if it is the outbound variant.

We do not have 5.5 installed as yet. But, this question was asked by a potential customer. Anyway, if I could check the HL7 configurator I would, but as we do not have this installed as yet, I was hoping someone may have the answer to this.
It is possible though to send HL7 2.5 in 5.2: make a 2.4 variant and redefine the changed segments. The only problem here is that some 2.5 types are not available; I replaced these types by String and made sure the correct components were send in the translation.

We recently upgraded to 5.5 Rev1 and yes you can easily configure 2.2 to go out as 2.5. Just make sure required fields are populated going outbound.
