"Persistent" connections

Hi folks,

I am not too sure if you guys have experienced this with, not just application folks, but also network folks (who should know better?)

Do you get puzzled looks when you say:

– a few seconds of network disruption (e.g. switch failover) would require manual intervention on both ends

– no, the connections will not be automatically ‘retried’ and re-established

Seems like they have never heard of the concept of persistent connection as something part and parcel of TCP/IP. They usually look at you as if it is something unique to Cloverleaf.
