perl 5.6.0? In 5.4.1??? blech.

How feasible is updating Perl for Cloverleaf?  I love the speed of Tcl’s regex’s, but I’m JAPH at heart.  Does Cloverleaf rely on v5.6.0, or can we replace it with a more capable version (with more capable capabilities.  Like threads.)

v5.6.0 had more than its share of bugs, as well.  It’d be really nice to get to at least the latest stable (v5.8.8, if memory serves.)

You can have your cake and eat it too in this case

Leave the perl alone that cloverleaf uses and install a more current version that you want to use.

In the screen shot below it illustrates that cloverleaf will use

/quovadx/qdx5.2/integrator/bin/perl

but I also have the option to choose

/usr/opt/perl5/bin/perl5.8.0
