      Help Please!

I have a new TCP/IP connection where an external client is attempting to send a ADT message.  When the attempt is made, the connection drops.  I’m receiving the following error in the log:

pdl :PDL :ERR /0:ThreadName_In_Test_ADT:09/10/2018 12:00:26] read failed: Connection reset by peer

[pdl :PDL :ERR /0:ThreadName_In_Test_ADT:09/10/2018 12:00:26] read returned error 73 (Connection reset by peer)

[pdl :PDL :ERR /0:ThreadName_In_Test_ADT:09/10/2018 12:00:26] PDL signaled exception: code 1, msg device error (remote side probably shut down)

Let me know if additional information is required in understanding the issue.  Immediate responses is greatly appreciated.  I’m also available for a call.

My guess is the other side is closing the connection after a send.

Are they supposedly waiting for a response? If so was the response sent and then the connection closed?

Try opening using the hcitcptest utility (either from the command line or from the desktop GUI). This can give you some additional look at what is transpiring – make sure to stop your thread in the Engine before starting hcitcptest.

You could also deploy a network sniffer if you have one.

The bottom line I think is the other side is sending a message then either waiting for a response then closing the connection once the response is received or is just closing the connection once a message is sent.

            Hi Jim,

            Thanks for the quick response!

We had our network rep and Unix rep on the line with the client during the attempts…nothing wrong from stands.

I’m not familiar with the hcitcptest utility.  Up for a call?…770-944-8778
