Notify of follow ups on forum not reliably working for others?

I frequently have the situation where I check the ‘Notify me of follow-up replies via email’ button and even after waiting for the timer to stop on my browser, the button is not set. Thus, I am not receiving notification of follow-ups.
This does not happen all the time but a lot. I am using Edge as the browser and it is up-to-date.
Anyone else experiencing the same behavior?
