I’m running Qvdx 3.8.1P on AIX 5.1 and am getting a “no-match: no more phrases to try error from the mlp_pdl.  I’m using pdl-tcp for my protocol.  Here’s the symptoms.  This interface is up and working just fine for hours and then I’ll get a huge transcription message that is sent in multiple tcp/ip packets.  It starts out processing the packets just fine but then I get the to following packet and get the “multi” phrase #0 rejected” messages.  As you can see the pdl doesn’t time out and I don’t see a 1c 0d in the message anywhere that would make the pdl think it’s the end of the message.  This interface is also across a T1 and the sending system is about 1000 miles away but it doesn’t look like the pdl is timing out.  Any idea’s?

          Daniel,

Since a “no match”  error does not give much debugging info in the log, Rob Abbott created a revised mlp pdl that might help identify the problem.  Check out this link:

Actually, there is a 1c (28) within this data that is causing the problem.  The pdl is written to accept data until ‘not 1c’.  It looks byte by byte – I don’t believe it is possible that it can be written to look at 2 bytes for the combination of 2813 – or at least I was unable to make this work years ago when trying to address a similar issue.

Thanks Mike, send me an email sometime and let me know how things are going up there.

I am finding the same thing you said to be true.  It looks like what’s happening is the sending system is not sending out the correct ASCII code for the Spanish special characters.  I am now in the mode of trying to convince them they have a problem.  (you know how that goes)
