I’m not Rob Abbott Bob but I will give it a shot

The monitorShmemFile is a shared memory area where the monitor daemon communicates with the engine for status, etc.

It is created by the monitor daemon.  In fact, in lieu of hcimsiutil -r, you could stop the monitor daemon, remove the monitorShmemFile and restart the monitor daemon.  This will create a new monitorShmemFile.  I use that method sometimes since, in my mind, it is more sure that the hcimsiutil command.  I know I have a clean monitorShmemFile

You should never remove it with the monitor daemon running!  I suppose you could leave the lock manager up but I usually shut the processes and both daemons down first.  hcisitectl -K

          I hope this helps
