We are wondering what the best solution would be to migrate to Linux at the same time we are upgrading to 6.2.

Our concerns are that currently we use AIX/Unix and that quite of few of our tcl procs will not work in Linux, (ssh, rcp, and like commands). We were wondering how other hospitals accomplished this. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

      TIA,

We are not a hospital but a lab company.

We did the jump from AIX with CL 5.3 and 5.8 to Linux with CL running 6.1.1.  It was not a huge pain but we had to test every interface with a bunch of messages to make sure that all of the tclprocs worked.  There were very minimal changes even from the system that was running CL 5.3.

Of course most of our scripts that run in the engine were not doing calls to external OS commands.  We did have scripts that run from cron that had to be changed but it was minimal in the changes because a lot of the commands are similar.  It took us about 10 weeks worth of work and testing to bring up everything in production on Linux.
