So I am still on 5.8 running 2008 r2, one of our vendors needs a mapped drive to their azure share, 2008 cant do that but I have a 2016 server that I can map a drive on.  How do I get that mapped drive on another server to put files in a local folder so I can receive and send files.   Or am I am I making this to complicated doing it that way.  Thanks

We are not on Windows (Linux) here, but using my own Windows knowledge.

You have a drive on the 2016 server (say X:) that you want to use on your 2008 server. Just share the X: so you can map a drive on the 2008 server (say Y:) by using the share on X:. With the correct rights the 2016 server should be able to read/write on X, which you then can read/write on the 2008 server on Y:.

I think an azure mapped drive has different permissions, it doesn’t allow me to share.

Hmm, that exceeds my Azure/Windows knowledge.

Did a quick Google search and it appears that you need a certain encryption, which is only available since Windows Server 2012/Windows 8. So it looks like it’s not possible to make a direct connection from Windows Server 2008.

Maybe a workaround: make a normal/local drive on 2012 and share this to 2008. Then you will need a process/batch on 2012 that moves files from the azure share to the local share, so 2008 can pick them up from there.

Thank you for the suggestion, I made a batch the would copy from the folder on 2008 to the folder on 2012 and they seem to be happy with that.

                Thank you
