I curious what you all do to clean-up these directories.  Do you clean them manually or through a script?  Do you keep these files for so long and then delete them or back-up them up?

      Thanks,

      Gary

          Hi Gary,

Good question! I only have a look at these directories when the filesystem is getting too full. I will then delete all ‘old’ files in the revision directories. Have never looked at the lock directory though. Ah: I see some very old files in there too…  ðŸ˜³

It wouldn’t be very difficult to cleanup these directories automatically by regularly deleting all files with a certain age. I know this won’t be a problem with the revisions directories; don’t know about the lock directory though.

I too wonder what others do…

          Cheers,

            Robert-

I checked our lock directory and it had about 300 files it in.  I wonder what would happen if you deleted a lock file and a user had that file open?

I let the upgrade process take care of these.  When I move to the next version of Cloverleaf, these all go away!

Which raises another question: how often do you upgrade Cloverleaf?

I checked on our production site: we have over 600 files in the lock directory and almost 500 in the revisions. On our development site we have 500 lock files and over 3000 revision files… 😯 May have to clean this up a bit.  ðŸ™‚

Was there ever any consensus on this? Is it safe to delete the lock files? We’ve got 2000 files, dating back YEARS!

I’d hate to find out that one of these lock files is created when the site comes up and is required for security…

I clean both up the files in the lock and revisions directories once a month.

Sometimes I save only the last files.  Depends on what we have going on.

Thanks for the response, Donna! I’ll clean up the last 48 or so months  8)
