Like items or substring of a field

Looking to use either the substring or like feature in cloverleaf to check the beginning of a description and if match then place a description into another field.  I know the change of a field is done in the translate or iterate function but looking to perform the substring or like option (i.e. XR Chest XRay but only looking at XR) to determine outcome or what to place into another field that the 3rd party vendor is looking for.

If you are on release 5.6 or later of Cloverleaf(R), the Xlate IF Action has a contains operator that may accomplish your needs.

Give that a try.

If either not on a release that has that operator or it does not work for you then you will need some Tcl.

Jim,

We are on 5.5 and not even thinking of upgrading to 5.6 at this time.  I will have to wait for the Tcl book that i ordered to read up on the process to perform that feature at this time.

I’m not sure exactly what fields you are wanting to copy, but lets say you are copying OBR.4.1.
