At one point I beleive i’ve heard that if you have an inbound thread then the outbound thread needs to be in the same process or else there is some type of issue.  Is that accurate?  If I’m mis-informed please let me know, otherwise let me know what issue it causes.

          Daniel,

You can have the inbound and outbound threads in different processes.  Just remember that the translation work is occurring in the process of the inbound thread, so that if you make any Xlate changes, etc. you’ll need to interact with the appropriate process.

            I concur with James.

I also don’t think that you’ll have specific performance or “unexplainable” issues with separate processes. We tend to keep our inbound and outbound threads in the same process as it is easier to group related items when modifying, shutting down, or bouncing processes. With that said, we do have a few that the inbound is a different process versus the outbound and we haven’t experienced any issues….(we need a knock-on-wood emoticon).

I agree about not expecting to have issues with it working but a cross process route has been less effecieint in older versions of cloverleaf.  I do not know if this still holds true.  So in the past at least it has been adviseable to avoid cross process translations and do a localhost TCP hop_send/hop_receive to move the messages across 2 differnet processes.
