how to create a new site for 5.3

I am looking for some document or instruction on how to create a new site. I did scan through some of the documentations posted on this site but did not seem to find it.  I might have overlooked something. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Thao,

You create a new site by going to ‘Start –> Programs –> Cloverleaf Platform 5.3 –> Tools –> Site Init’.

Thank you for your reply. To be more specific, we currently have a working production site and wonder if we can create a new test site from copying form the production site and then reconfigure it to point to the corresponding test servers.

I do this sort of thing all the time but did resort to writing my own automation scripts to do all the steps necessary.

This last year I migrated all our sites to a new server so I got to do it for

57 production sites

98 test sites

I did this with 2 scripts I wrote:

one to tar up the site

another to create/prep a new site and untar/merge the old site into the new site copy.

I have found these scripts to be very usefull for what you are describing, too.

I did not post what I have because there are specifics related to MD Anderson that I did not want to bother figuring out and describing.

I see you are in Houston and that is where I work, too.

As Russ indicated, you simply tar up all of the configuration files from the Production site and then extract them into your test site and modify the NetConfig to point to the test system.  I believe you can find the instructions to tar a site on this forum under the ‘Support’ topic.

After the site init and the copy of all of the directories and files – what modifications have to be made to the NetConfig to get the new site to work?  Please explain.  Thanks
