How many is too many couriers?

We currently have one VM Windows XP workstation with the CSC 4.3r2 client installed for one vendor.  We’d like to utilize that same courier client install with a new project / vendor in the near future.  My concern is that we don’t want to impact performance with vendor1 (or vendor2) due to the known issue (per the release notes) where “Too many Couriers can cause issues with Dispatcher and

Courier processes (6018)”.

We currently have 2 production and 2 test couriers.

So my question is… how many is too many?
