How can I strip a single element from a raw feed?

Has anyone removed an HL7 element when a raw route is used. I need to remove the PV1-9, consulting physician from my registration messages. Any insight on stripping out the element easily without having to create Xlates, variants, would be appreciated.

The route sends differing types of ADT and orders messages.

Here is a tcl script that removes MSH.8.3.

Charlie Bursell wrote it to change ADT^XXX^XX to ADT^XXX.

It is simular to what you want to do.

Start with this script and you should be able to modified to what you need.
