      You need to increase your open file limit.   Not sure how that is done on AIX, you should be able to google it.

      ulimit -n  — unlimited

      ulimit -u — unlimited

      i signed in as root and found this, but if logged in as hci i get this….

      ulimit -n

      2048

      where is this located.. under what name

      In RedHat it is configured in /etc/sysctl.conf, again not sure about AIX.  Also, since it is the Host Server that brought the issue to the forefront, you know that the issue is for the user hci and no other user.

      phhshubha:/ # su – hci

      $ ulimit

      unlimited

      $ ulimit -a

      time(seconds)        unlimited

      file(blocks)         unlimited

      data(kbytes)         131072

      stack(kbytes)        32768

      memory(kbytes)       32768

      coredump(blocks)     2097151

      nofiles(descriptors) 2048

      threads(per process) unlimited

      The file (blocks) is unlimited, but the nofiles (descriptors) is 2048 – that is the problem – the maximum number of files open (file handles allocated) is 2048. We have ours at 10000. We are on AIX. Your sysadmin can increase that permanently. You may have authority to increase it temporarily.

      Mike-

      We have the same issue with the exception of the ulimit settings. Our settings are all in alignment with the proposed changes. Did this change resolve this issue for you?
