      Hi all-

I had the hostserver crash on my production server this morning.  I received some java errors when trying to connect via the ide.  I was able to restart using hciss and launch the ide.  How can I find out why the hostserver stop running?  I talked to our aix admin and all he could see when the java errors occurred.

      Thanks,

      Gary

          Gary,

Take a look at the server.log_bak file in $HCIROOT/server/logs

          Hope this helps.

            This is what file says:

              Try this post:

You probably need to up the buffers.

It’s weird though.  We have been running 5.5 for almost two years and never ran into this problem before.

Have you added more sites or threads recently?

I added another site about 3 months ago.  It has one process and about 7 threads.  Nothing new since then.  I had no issues with our test server; It has 3 sites.

Perhaps there is some sort of memory leak? You’ll probably need to monitor the log Jim spoke of on a regular basis for a while.

Other than that, I’m out of ideas.

Would that be a memory leak in Java?

                          Possibly.

I could be wrong, but I believe jvm_args=-Xmx256m deals with garbage collection. See if you have that config’d already on your machine.

The settings are the default.  What do those JVM Arguments mean?  By changing this what is affected?
