I needed to create a copy of a site into a new site and found this program in my contrib directory and wonder if there are any gotchas using it on 5.8 or 6.0.
I see it was written by HCI Tech Support and last edited by Lance Bayless in 1997. There are some names I haven’t heard in a long time, HCI and Lance Bayless.
Easiest way to do this is to stop your site, copy the directory, start the original site back up, add the new site to environs in the server.ini, and then start your new site when ready.
In CIS 6.0 you can use the BOX feature to do copy sites, process, threads, etc.
I’ve never used to hcisitetar command. It wouldn’t hurt anything to try it out.
The hcisitetar command worked like a charm and my site cloned and is running great. My concern was that in 1997 when it was last edited, Cloverleaf was at some iteration of version 3.x, and wondered if there was someone who knew anything not migrated in future versions, in particular 5.8.5.
