Is there anyway to configure the IDE so that only the NetMonitor is accessible.  We’ve been running the unsupported hcinetmonitor on 5.8 and below, but trying to upgrade to 6.1.2.   We have it on our test engine, and when attempting to run hcinetmonitor , get JAVA errors.  And since it’s unsupported, I figure we’re stuck.  Outside of Global Monitor (which we have and will use with our operators ),  what do you all use for an operations staff.

The only way that I am aware of to give certain people only certain things in the IDE/GUI is to have Advanced Security.  Here at Quest we have Advanced Security but have not implemented it yet due to the complex nature of our business and what we want people to have access to.  It takes a lot of time to layout everything for the right security levels and access points.  Time we do not have right now.

We also do have the Global Monitor that we have setup and that too takes a bit of setup and playing with to get it right to allow certain people to see only certain things.

Hi Kevin,

Our operators technically have access to the full IDE, but only run the NetMonitor.  Normally, the ‘Launch Bar’ is closed as it gives them more NetMonitor real estate anyway.  So far there hasn’t been an issue with the operators getting into things they shouldn’t (it’s been this way for over 10 years).  They have enough on their plate that poking around in the IDE is not high on their list.

How can I have the IDE automatically launch the Network Monitor when it’s brought up?  Also, I would like to have it automatically point to a particular site instead of just brining up the last one closed.
