after stopping processes in a site (from command line) and also shutting down daemons  with hcisitectl -K……the hcimonitord comes back up “magically”……and no i do not have or at least know of….an inittab or cron that is kicking it back up.

Why does the monitord keep coming back up?

We are running cluster services / HA

I think I remember hearing that Global Monitor has that effect.

Remeber if you launch the netmonitor in the IDE it will start the monitord if it isn’t already running.

That is why we have created an off.alrt file that we load when we want to get around this problem and have the alerts temporarily turned off for the whole site while we are using the netmonitor.

The off.alrt file only has a prologue header in it an no alerts.

Then we load it as follows

            Code:

            hcisitectl -k m -s m -A “a=-cl ‘off.alrt'”
