Generating ORM SC back to sending system

We have a host system that sends Order Messages (ORM NW) to many ancillary systems.  One of those ancillary systems does not support sending back a status change message (ORM SC) when that order is collected.  All that we will get is a result (ORU) when the order is resulted.  Our host system rejects that result because the order on the host system isn’t in the proper state to receive a result (it needs to be collected first).  So I need to be able to generate the status change message and send it back to the host system.

This was easy to do for orders being generated from the ancillary system.  All I needed to do was modify my translation to do a BULKCOPY/SEND then modify MSH-10 and ORC-1 to turn it into a status change message and that gets sent as well.

I’m not certain how I should go about this for the orders originating on the host though.  I don’t want this in reply to every order from the host, only those orders that are going to this one specific ancillary system.

I’m guessing that I’ll need to do this as a TPS on the outbound thread for the ancillary system and somehow find a way to route that reply to the outbound thread for the host system.  Or is there a way through a translation to do a send but give it a different destination?

      Any help would be appreciated.

      Thank you, Ed.

          Ed,

I am also working on a similar scenario.  If that system sends an ORM instead of an ORU, than you can change it to an ORU with SC for order control code.  I am currently doing this in an xlate and I didn’t have to generate another message, just change the ORM to an ORU message within the xlate.

Using bulkcopy and pathcopy commands it is pretty quick to do.

          Nancy
