I have a vendor that has requested XML messages via the file drop method.  Anyone know what the file drop method is?  I asked if it was ftp, sftp, socket, etc…  We thought we had agreed to a socket using mlp, but now have been again asked to use the file drop method.  Anyone have any insight on this?  The application is called Pulse.

          Keith,

I think that is typically a FTPS or HTTPS connection wherein you are given a ‘mailbox’ URL in which you drop a file (typically one message per file).

Any responses are then typically in another ‘mailbox’ where you once again typically use FTPS or HTTPS to get the responses.

I have in the past set one up which was HTTPS to the partner and FTPS back from the partner. We no longer have that integration (UHC 278).

In any case the vendor should be able to explain exactly what protocol is to be deployed and what the exchange criteria are.
