I had the wrong phone# in the 5.6 help file.  CL support e-mailed me the correct # and webex’d me out if trouble.  Thanx!

I had used Rob Abbot’s suggestion at this URL when he posted it

to modify the support phone number information displayed in our IDE help on each client PC as seen in the screen shot below.

You might find it useful to do something similar to keep yourself and others from wasting time in the future with an obsolete support phone number.

For the phone fix, on my PC,i i went to C:quovadxqdx5.6integratorclientbrandbrand.txt and edited the phone number.

Once support attached, they did hcienginestop -p for each process in the site (it was only one site that was hung) and did a sitectrl -K and this brought the site down.  They then deleted the monitorShmemFile file from the exec directory and the rdm.taf file from the databases directory.  They may have done a limited hcidbinit but I can’t remember.  After this, they brought the processes back up and we have been good since then.  Thanx!

OK, so i don’t use command line commands very much lately.

                    hcisitectl -K

                    Happy??  Thanx!

Sorry, but if you see an error, it is usually my fat fingers or skinny brain.  Thanx!

Did support say anything about why dumping the errors caused the site to hang?  ❓

                          Thx,

My fault on two fronts.  First I did not read the help notes where it says you can only use the message ID section of the Database Administrator to do one message at a time.  I tried to do a list (I did it again the next day before reading the notes but found that the list does work, it just takes a reeeeeeeeeeealy long time to produce the report).  when the report failed to come back in what I thought was a reasonable time, I tried to run it again from the GUI and got the dbuser 921 error.  I then thought the job was hung so I went to UNIX and killed the job.  That was the same as doing a CTRL-C in the middle of the hcidbdump command.  From that point it was probably my frustration pushing buttons multiple times that then caused the engine to hang.  When I did it the next day, I did not kill the job or CTRL-C out and the engine did not hang.  Live and learn (the hard way).  Thanx!
