email for alerts

We recently changed our email service.  I have gone into the IDE and put the new server address in.  We are using version 6.1

I went to

Options

Site Options

Alert Configuration

I entered the server address in the SMTP Server space.

I did a test and I received the test email.

I tried to send an alert using the new server address and it did not send an email.

I set it up to send email and to notify.

The notify worked but no email.

I looked in the advanced tab on the alert and the email server was the new server.

Is there something else I need to do.

We are on a Linux box.

I received an email during the night from an alert that I had changed to the new server but it shows it was sent to the old server.

You may need to bounce the monitor daemon for this change to take effect.
