We are on a very old version of cloverleaf (5.5) with no plans to upgrade.  We are using an app called “sendit” in conjunction with our alerts.  The hospital is changing Exchange domains, and the new domain was changed on the UNIX server that runs cloverleaf monitoring.  Mailx manually to my new email domain from the command prompt works great.

However, when using the new domain from withing cloverleaf alerts, using the “sendit” app, no email is fired.

Anyone ever use “sendit”?  I find myself thinking there must be some config file somewhere that is pointing to the old exchange domain.

Now that sendit app is hosed…and none of my alerts work.  Could anyone please tell me how to set email alerts in the 5.5 version of Cloverleaf?

It has been a long time since I had to mess with somthing like what you are asking about.

I’m running my cloverleaf server on AIX, which is a flavor of UNIX but not sure what flavor of UNIX you are running on.

I think the file I ended up tinkering with was called

            /etc/sendmail.cf

I looked in that file just to see if any lines contain our email domain name of “mdanderson.org” and got the following hit

            Code:

            # “Smart” relay host (may be null)
            DSmail.mdanderson.org

this might be the direction you are looking for or at least could help conversing with a system admin to give him a possible clue of where to look.

I also want to add that I thought I had read somewhere that mailx might just be a wrapper around snedmail.

Since sendit isn’t working like mailx does from the command line that might mean sendit is not a wrapper around the same sendmail program used by mailx and could have its own configuration file different from mailx/sendmail.

I have only used the sendmail application that comes with the AIX operating system.

Thanks so much for answering.  I finally just changed my alerts to use mailx (after finding the correct syntax) and that seems to be working correct.

It seems to me your first preference is you want to continue to use sendit to deliver cloverleaf email alerts.

If you aren’t able to make sendit do what you want anymore, mailx might be a workable replacement since you observed it working from the command line.

You could at least do a proof of concept to see if you can get mailx or sendmail to deliver your cloverleaf email alerts.

This way you have some comfort in knowing you have a fall back plan if your reach an impasse with sendit.

Well I see by the time I posted you already decided to resort to mailx.

Nice to hear you are back in bussiness.
