Has anyone had an issue where a email alert triggers but instead of send one email it sends about 10 of the same email and what did you do to fix it?  I am on cloverleaf 5.8.4 running AIX 6.1.

      Thanks

Can you get a screenshoot of how your alert is configured?

              Greetings,

              Running 5.8.5.0 on AIX 6.1 TL7

This may or may not be the case here but we have reported a bug

on the Error Database alert where we specify an email type action

to our support group.  The Error Database alert resets every 3 minutes

by design but keeps firing anyway.  Under our old version 5.7 R2 once reset the alert ceases to fire – we manually clear the errors out.

My guess here is that this error alert may have the same problem:

resets but keeps firing at regular intervals.

Check your /exec/hcimonitord/alerts.log file for clues on any resets

              then firings of the alert.

Definitely report as a bug to INFOR support as a Revision 6 is in the works

to fix the Error Database alert bug along with a few other problems.

Tentative date for Revision 6 is June 2013 as indicated to us earlier this year.

              Hope this helps.

We have email alerts set up here as well and all appears to be correct.  The only difference I see is the time window is configured different.  We have it set up as:

                * * * * * *

We arent having any issues with our email alerts.  Have you checked your log file to see if it is triggering multiple times?  If it is only triggering once, I would check with the exchange server folks to see what they can find on their end.

                Thanks….

You may have more than one hcimonitord running for that process.

                  Do the following.

                  1. setsite to whatever site is giving you the problem.

                  2. ps -ef | grep hcimonitord

                  3. You should only see one hcimonitord for each process in that site.

If you have more that is what is causing the each alerts to fire.

One of the problems is that hcimonitord does not check to see if it is already running for that process.  If you start it again, it creates the process again.

I just thought of a way this can be happening without you knowing it.

If you have Global Monitor check your settings.

There is a setting in Global Monitor that will restart the monitor if it notices it is down.

So if you stop it, Global Monitor will start, and then you start, it is running twice.

If you do not have Global Monitor, please disregard.

Thanks you very much,  we do not have global Monitor but it looks like we have more monitord than processes.
