Does Cloverleaf have its own FTP services?

Or does it use the FTP services of the native operating system?

I had a problem this morning where the AIX 6.1 netstat command showed hundreds of connections in a CLOSE_WAIT status. The local address and the foreign address are the same. For example

tcp4  0  0  prodclov.59351   prodclov.59352  CLOSE_WAIT

I stopped and started ftp and it got rid of all these spurious connections but I see that they are building once again.

Cloverleaf now uses cURL (libCurl) for FTP whhich does a great job

If the ports are in FIN_AWAIT it means someone did not close the connection correctly.  I am sure that is not cURL as we use it all over the place as well as thousands of people outside of Cloverleaf.  

How is your configuration?  Is it persistent?  Perhaps after each connection the host is pulling the port from under you?

If you message flow is not very fast, try setting it up to close after write and connect only when there is something to send.

Failing that I would get a sniffer such as Wirehark and see what is is going on the line.
