Do you use Java UPoCs?

We use Java UPoCs every once in a while if TCL isn’t really equipped to do the trick. Possibilities are send/receive mail, do SOAP, do anything time related etc. Cloverleaf has JRE 1.3.1. You need to provide for the right SDK for yourself. We run into two problems:
Version 1.3.1 is ancient. It therefor does not support lots of goodies and is therefor not supported by lots of goodies (extra jars)

Having the JRE only, makes supporting it hard, because you cannot easily alter the class file(s) and recompile
