The primary devices that we are interested in are Puritan Bennett 840 ventilators. We’re considering several options.
We could have Cloverleaf connect through the devices through a terminal server and translate the data stream using an FRL to HL7 translation.
We could use middle-ware from Capsule Technologies which is designed to provide this solution.
We could attach a small Linux appliance to each ventilator running Mirth which would read from the serial port, translate to HL7 and queue messages before sending them to Cloverleaf. This would help deal with network or Cloverleaf outages without losing any data.
Does anyone have experience solving this type of problem?
