These are the files that make up the recovery database. If you need to reclaim space (because these have grown large), you will need to re-initialize the databases. You need to shutdown all of you interfaces (and make sure that no messages are queued), and then re-initialize the databases with the hcidbinit command. One thing to note with the recovery database is that it will grow to it’s largest size (based on queued transactions) and not re-shrink. So, if you had a time when you had a large number of messages queued, the recovery database would have grown as much as it needed; once those messages flowed out, it would still retain it’s size.
Ah so, once the rows are removed those spaces are not reclaimed, interesting. Is there a size limit on these files or any performance issues based on size? Also, in 5.6 is same database structure used?
