Sometimes there are occassions when a few lines of xlate code is exactly what is needed in another xlate – but it seems that when I try to copy any lines of code it will only paste within the same xlate – when I try to paste into another xlate it does not work.

I have a iterative routine that locates a certain data element that could be shared between 13 different downstream systems and is a bit tedious to type fresh each time….

Is there a good way to paste from one xlate to another?

I’m not sure it’s really a ‘good’ way – and have no experience doing it myself, but you can try saving off the iteration to it’s own .xlt, then use the Insert File… option under the Translate File menu and see if that gets it done.

          Hope this helps.

Another way to do this is to open the source Xlate in the IDE, select what you want to copy and perform the copy; then without exiting the current Xlate tool, open the target Xlate, and you can paste into it once it is loaded.
