Does anyone have any experience on creating an Excel with few fields e.g. Patient name, SSN and birthday into HL7 messages?

      Thanks,

      Wilson

          Generally speaking,

I would export the excel file into a comma delimited file (.csv)

            Ryan,

I have a .csv file which has some fields defined with their lengths. Now how do I convert it into VRL from GUI.

To my knowledge there is no way to convert a csv or xlt  to a vrl via the gui.  if so I have missed out on that functionality.   Though that would be a pretty cool enhancment 🙂

                Bala,

I just use the GUI to define the VRL structure.

You could write a Tcl proc to build the VRL definition file from your file (I am assuming the file you have is essentially the definition of the VRL not the data for the VRL) if you are so inclined.
