      Cloverleaf 5.6 rev 2 on Solaris 10.

We have an issue whereby a supplier connects as a client and then disconnects after sending a message. This woks ok usually but if there is a backlog of inbound messages, the supplier is telling us they are getting a “Connection is forcefully rejected” error on their side.

On Cloverleaf, on the PDL TCP/IP Protocol Properties tab, in the Auto-Reconnect Options, Auto-reconnect is checked with Reopen time of 5 seconds. Could this be causing the problem or is it only applicable to Host connections?

Welcome to the world of TCPIP connections that drive you crazy. 😉

The auto-reconnect time on a server connection is the amount of time that must pass before the thread will actually accept a new connection.

            Steve,

Thanks for the info. What would be the impact of switching auto-reconnect off altogether?

            Thanks,

            Dave

If your turn off auto-reconnect, the thread will go into an error state when they disconnect and will not allow a connection until it is stopped/restarted.

As it’s our Emergency Department I’ll leave well alone then! We’re not losing messages so they must be re-trying.

                Thanks,

                Dave

When TCP/IP disconnects it does not drop the connection right away it first goes into a wait state for any packets still in the ether.  ead the RFP not much to it.

Define the thread a multiserver.  That way if the port is not ready it will jus assign another
