Cloverleaf(R) 5.2 rev2 – Version Control

I am just beginning to investigate Version Control on Cloverleaf(R).

I am attempting to do an import and I get the following dialogue (see attachment – I hope).

Can anyone enlighten me as to the contents of the various fields?

I think the Host is the IP address/Name of the server.

We are running with NO security so I am not sure if that affects what goes in User.

I think Root is supposed to be the $HCIROOT directory.

I suspect ‘New Repository Name’ is the directory name I want for the repository.

Let me know where I am wrong please.

Jim,

We thought about implementing Version Control here at The Methodist Hospital a couple of months back.  We could not seem to get it to work and contacted Quovadx.  I was told that Version Control was not working on any Version 5.2.  I believe they told me that it was working on Version 5.3 but I cant be sure.  Does it indeed work on Version 5.2?  Can someone from Quovadx confirm this?

Since I am just getting started, I am not sure if it works on 5.2.

Maybe even after I get the answers I seek, it may not function.

I too am interested if anyone knows definitively if I will be spinning my wheels with VC on 5.2 (Lord knows I can spin my wheels enough on my own).

It was always inferred that VC in Cloverleaf was not brilliant. Unless Quovadx have put effort into this on later versions (5.3, 5.4) then that should still be the case.

It was suggested that we use a ‘professional’ VC product rather than rely on Cloverleaf and in the end never took it further. I’d be interested to know if it does work and how well.

Has anyone received an answer about version control working in the newer releases.

It doesn’t work any differently in 5.3 and I didn’t see any remedy in the release notes for 5.4.  I discussed this topic with Quovadx management at the last couple of user group meetings.  The feeling seems to be that there aren’t enough users who want this feature to warrant the time and expense required to make it work well.

I won’t be able to attend this year’s user group meeting.  If you are able to go, please take a few minutes to introduce yourself to Rob and Rey and Harvey (they are great folks) and mention that fixing VC would be a useful enhancement to the product.

I am going and I do know all 3 of them.  I will chat with all of them about this.  I think there would be enough interest if people knew about it.  I for one knew there had been attempts at getting this to work in the earliest versions but I was under the impression that it was dropped a long time ago.

I once called QDX Tech Support and asked if they had any additional information on how to use this, as the manual is somewhat sparse and was told that they thought that someone had a document on how to use this and they would sent it out to me.  That is the last that I heard from them.
