Anyone out there running Cloverleaf on the same box with any other applications? We are planning a major Cloverleaf upgrade and have a new server which was purchased for another application. The server has enough resources for both, with plenty to spare.

My suggestion is to put cloverleaf on it’s own box.

Craig brings up good points.  Our documentation even states that Cloverleaf is the only recommended application on the server.

The other day I saw a customer install Cloverleaf on a server that had several other applications and the monitord wouldn’t run to due to a port conflict.

            Thanks,

            Rick

If the server is an IBM running AIX, could Cloverleaf run under the IBM’s Micro-Partitioning (given enough resources)?  Since the physical server is partitioned into multiple virtual AIX servers, which can be rebooted separately, would this scenario work?

Not doing it here, have IBM JS-20 Blade, AIX 5.3, Cloverleaf 5.4.1….but it is a thought…..

Chris brings up a good point. We have only one pSeries server divided into two AIX LPARs, one for test, one for production. However there is possibly additional hardware to buy as you need a Hardware Management Console to manage the LPARs. But that server is just a small Linux server so the cost should not be too much.  You may already have a HMC if you already have a pSeries or iSeries using LPARs.

Another advantage is that there is only one Cloverleaf license needed, whereas if you have separate servers for test and prod, you need two licenses.
