We just setup a new RHEL VM that will be the new home for all our CL activities. Our corporate Unix and Cloverleaf guru mentioned that back in 2012 Cloverleaf recommended to set ‘syncfiles=1’ in the Raima database manager configuration file to prevent message loss in the event of an outage. This has a pretty big negative impact on throughput.

I am wondering if anyone else running RHEL has any experience with this setting or has heard any official word from Infor about need to set or not set this?

I did not even know that setting existed.  We have 11 RHEL servers and none of them have that set to 1.

Having had to recover from data losses multiple times, I’d be interested to hear more about your experience with this setting, especially as nothing else has worked for us (including HA).  Have you experienced data loss with this flag set?  Have you had a chance to compare throughput with and without the setting?  We have on the order of 6 million inbound messages a day.

            Thanks.
