      All,

A problem we experienced with Cloverleaf 5.6 (others experienced with other releases as well) is that when a field needed to have an unlimited length one could no longer specify that in the IDE Mesage layout configurators (HL/7, X12, etc.). One needed to use an editor to enter -1 in the actual fields file then be careful to not reference that field in the IDE configurator lest the change be lost.

I am happy to report that has been corrected in Cloverleaf 6.0 with the addition of a buton ‘Unlimited’. Selecting that button sets the underlying LEN key to a value of -1.

Thanks Cloverleaf guys for correcting this!!

Just an FYI – the ‘unlimited’ feature is available in 5.8 as well.

            Thanks,

From the patch notes for 6.0.1

In previous versions, when a user wanted the engine to not truncate any field content, the field length would be set to unlimited (-1). However, this could introduce an issue where not all fields would be set to unlimited inside the engine.

A new option has been added that forces the engine not to truncate any field content, even if the content is beyond field length definition.

In the HL7 Configurator GUI, there is a new Options>Control Field Length menu option. Selecting this opens a dialog box where there is a Do not truncate any field content check box. By default, this is unchecked. Select the check box to force the engine not to truncate any field content.

In this way, it is unnecessary to set the field length to unlimited. If you do set

Max, when will the 6.x documentation be posted in the documentation area of Clovertech?

I’m not sure. But the release notes and patch should be available on Infor Xtreme.

Yes. Same files as the server. You choose Client Only as part of the install.
