CL 6.0.0: DB Protocol Connect with each message?

I am beginning to research the new DB Protocol in order to evaluate it vis-a-vis the ODBC Driver solution we have in place.

We have 2 connection scenarios we need to support:

1. Connect at start and disconnect at stop – persistent connection.

2. Connect and disconnect with each message.

From what I can tell the provided protocol only allows for option 1 above.

I should also point out we invoke Stored Procedures for the actual DB work rather than imbedding the SQL code inside Cloverleaf.

Can anyone tell me if I can accomplish Option 2 above (connect/disconnect with each message) using the DB Protocol and if so where I will find that documented (taking into account using Stored Procedures)?

If not documented perhaps you would be willing to discuss with me.
