CL 5.8.5 Release – Needs Data Integrator?

I was looking through the release notes for the new 5.8.5 release and it states “Message Archiving requires Data Integrator”.  Can someone explain this to me?  Does Message Archiving mean the ability to same messages into smat files?  What is Data Integrator?  Is this an additional module that needs to be purchased?  

I am getting ready to upgrade from 5.6 and need to make sure I don’t need to purchase anything additional to upgrade without loosing any fuctionality I currently have.

Craig,

I think that applies to if you want message archiving to an external DB (such as Oracle) rather than SMAT.

If you do then you need to license Data Integrator on UNIX (ODBC Drivers).

One way to help make sure you don’t loose anything when upgrading is to look at your license file ( $HCIROOT/vers/license.dat ) to see what license keys you currently have and make sure to include those in your upgrade request for new license keys.

For example here is our $HCISITE/vers/license.dat file on our production HACMP cluster mdahub8sna consiting of nodes mdahub8 & mdahub9:
