I don’t know of a tool to convert an FRL to a VRL, so I think you will need to do this from scratch. Unless it’s a VERY big/complicated FRL, that shouldn’t take too long.

If you keep the fieldnames the same, you don’t need to change your Xlate too much.

You could write a Tcl proc to convert the FRL to VRL. However, not a lot of the key items per field are common but it would give you a start.

You would still need to go through each definition to assure the conversion was effective.

The task becomes simpler if there are no field level differences to the globals for the VRL – then each field can be somewhat complete.

If it is a small definition then Robert’s suggestion to just build the VRL by hand using the same field names is probably the best way to go.

Understand if the FRL is complex (with masks, etc.) then the automated or manual conversion could get fairly complicated.
