Can I configure a 2.4 message to 2.5.1

our HIS is sending out 2.4 for ADTs.  But I need to send out 2.5.1 to our syndromic surveillance group for MU3.  Can I just configure up?

Sandi,

In most cases the answer is Yes.

What you need to be aware is you may have issues if BULKCOPY is your intent.

Of course raw route probably is not advisable.

This highlights the differences between 2.5 and 2.4.

Read that white paper and be especially attentive to field level changes. Most times new segments are optional so can be left in the message definition in the up level message.

I have done this kind of thing multiple times. You can also go back level although that requires more analysis (some fields can get truncated for example).
