We are in the process of migrating to 6.0 from 5.6.

We know the Alerts changed after 5.6.

One thing we always desired was a mechanism to fire a specific alert of the alert set (default.alrt) to test it and potentially exploit the alert configuration from within Tcl.

I see an alert can specify a Tcl proc to execute but what I am talking about is a method to fire a specific alert from a Tcl proc under a condition not specified in the Alert but rather a condition detected by any Tcl proc.

      Thanks

Jim, One suggestion would be to set up a file change alert, then have the tcl script modify the file to get the alert to fire.

Brent that is a good suggestion.

I am still hoping a release of Cloverleaf will allow the test firing of an alert to make sure all of the pieces that activate after the trigger work properly before a real situation occurs.

Now that each Alert in the Alert file has an Alert Name, there is a way to reference a specific Alert.

If the need arises to actually fire off an alert from a Tcl proc using your suggestion will work. However, ideally I don’t want to have to have file handling be part of the process.

            Thanks again.
