I have an outbound thread that loses it’s connection to the server, for some reason that nobody has been able to figure out. But it causes the thread to stay in an opening state until somebody sees it and bounces the thread, then it processes fine. I would like to use an alert, but it looks like the only choices are UP and DOWN. Is there a way to check for an OPENING state?

  You want to use protocol status rather than thread status for your alert.

  An alternative is to fix the problem.
  
  Try modifying the ‘keep alive’ time on both systems.
  
  I’ve set mine to 15 minutes.
