I need to setup an alert to page our on-call persons to let them know when interfaces go down on the engine.  I had an instance occur this past Friday where a payroll interface went down due to a process panic on Cloverleaf.   The problem wasn’t realized until this morning.  It is critical that I get an alert setup so that something like this can be avoided and prevent all the timekeepers from doing double work.

Does anyone have an alert that can send a page to on-call staff when an interface (and/or process) goes down?

      Thanks in advance.

          Ariba,

Assuming that you can send e-mail from your engine and your pager is a text-capable pager, you should be able to configure an Alert easily.  Just configure the alert condition as desired (i.e. thread status down, etc.) and set the ‘Action’ to exec with the following command:

          mail -s “%A” mypager@myprovider.com < "%F"

The %A and %F variables will contain the text of the Alert that was triggered.

mypager@myprovider.com should be replaced with your appropriate text-pager address.

          Hope this helps.
