I just put into place an alert file, specific to one type of interface.

Then I figured I should ask folks out here if that is possible to do? Have more than one Alert file configured and applied to the deamon at the same type. Specifly I have a default file and and Bloodbank file on two sites.

Is that something that should be okay???

          Robert,

My understanding is that only one alert file can be active within a given site, but perhaps I am mistaken.  Is there any reason you can’t simply add the necessary alert(s) to the existing alert file (i.e. default.alrt)?

Yes, I can add it in.

It was just a way to move them over from test and have them edited for different recipients and text in the email part of the alerts.

            Thanks for your reply.

Now that I think about it our previous Interface manager had us using two files a default and a normal one. Not sure why it was done that way, but I think they both may have worked. I will wait to see what others say, but I may need to do what you have suggested if we are unable to have more than one file running for alerts. Since this in prod they do not like us testing them.

We have a couple of alert files configured, default.alrt and minimal.alrt.  Under normal conditions the default.alrt file is running.  If we know we are going to be stopping a bunch of interfaces for a period of time, we will invoke the ‘minimal.alrt’ file to avoid triggering unnecessary alerts.  When we are done, we will re-invoke the ‘default.alrt’ file.

                Hope that makes sense.

took your advice and added it to the default file. I like your idea of having a minum alert file to use for instances of maintenance or special cases.

I think your right about only the one file being able to be used at anytime.

Let you know if I hear anything different.

                    Dear,

To get information about loaded alerts (from the console):

                    Code:

                    setsite X
                    hcicmd -t d -p hcimonitord -c “show enabled”

                    or

                    Code:

                    hcicmd -t d -p hcimonitord -c “show all”

We experienced some trouble with the GUI when we loaded an alert file, it seems to load all .alrt file, so we renamed all alert files with different extension and keep the active alert file with .alrt extension ( run cis5.8 ) .

                    Regards,

                    Yves
