Hello – I’m trying to run some basic commands from the unix command line.

      I’m running /quovads/cis6.1/integrator/bin/hcisetenv -site my_site

and getting a returned value of “HCIROOT is not defined”

We are considering switching from a windows to a Linux server so a little help on getting the basics is appreciated.  I didn’t see any dummy documentation on the forum.[/img]

Before running the hci commands from a command line, you need to set the environment variables.  You can do this by issuing the “setroot” command.  For our shop it is:

          setroot /hci/cis6.1/integrator

You will need to put in the root directory for your shop which I’m thinking is “/quovads/cis6.1/integrator” based on your post.

Try using the hci account instead of your personal account.

Then look at the .profile stuff to set up the environment.
