AIX – Can a process utilize multiple CPU’s?

We have a file being created by one engine thread and read by another.   I believe we can avoid contention on the file by putting both threads in the same engine process  We are running Cloverleaf 5.3 (no revs), AIX 5.1 on a dual processor machine.  Can anyone confirm whether or not a single Cloverleaf process can utilize multiple CPU’s at the same time?
