      Hi All,

I am on a WK2 server with QDX 5.4 soon to go to 5.5. My new CIO is asking for the operators to monitor the QDX threads 24/7. In the past I have just relied on alerts and for the operators to check a couple of times a night but not keep the Monitor open all night. What is the ramifications if we have a client Network Monitor open all the time? Are there any memory leaks? Will it decrease the time between reboots? I have seen plenty of information on AIX machines and some great work arounds but nothing on handling this with my finicky windows machines. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

          Hi Jodi,

We are also on W2K, and have had a dedicated monitor 24/7 for about a year.  Once in a while it loses it’s network connection; refreshing the sites reconnects it to the server.

Prior to the deciated monitor, we had the monitors open 24/7 on the server for 7 years with no issues.

            Hi Debra,

That is great to hear. I was a little nervous about doing this. I am glad to hear that it has worked so well for you.

            Thanks for sharing your experience.
