      Hello:

I was wondering if the IDE can be configured to access SMAT history files that are not stored within $HCIROOT.

We beefed up our version 5.8 Linux servers and set up a separate partition for storing historical SMAT files, to avoid congestive engine failure when the historical SMAT files encroach on the disk space that the engine software also relies on.  It also allows the servers to store more historical data.

However, in the IDE the user is only able to reach as far up as $HCIROOT to find these SMAT files.  Will a symbolic link to the other partition work?

      Thanks.

We create a symbolic link within the $HCIROOT tree that points to a location that cannot be reached.  For example, the path /HIC/qdx/cis5.8/integrator//exec/processes/logs points to the real path of /HIClogs/.  This way all files not related to the current day are stored elsewhere on a different partition, but yet be reached quickly when needed.

We have done the same as Jerry.  We archive our SMAT files to a location outside of the $HCIROOT, but simply created a soft-link under $HCIROOT to the archive directory.  Thus, the archive directory is accessible under $HCIROOT.

This has been a long standing request for enhancement to allow SMAT to natively navigate the entire file system.

Hopefully this will be included in some future rlease.

In the meantime the softlink resolution described is also what we use and serves the purpose.

We use symbolic links at the level so the entire site is on another Unix mount point.
